Liwa Education Scholarship Policy

LISG Grades 10–12 Scholarship Program

For launch January 2026, implementation August 2026
Review Date: July 2027

1. Purpose

This defines the scope and conditions for the Liwa Education Scholarship Program at Liwa International School for Girls (LISG). The program will be launched in January 2026 and operate throughout the 2026–2027 academic year. It is designed to:

  • Encourage applications from high-achieving, motivated non-Emirati students entering or enrolled in Grades 10–12.
  • Increase the academic achievement and cultural diversity of the LISG student body.
  • Provide meaningful recognition and financial support to outstanding students who reflect Liwa Education's values of excellence, innovation, and leadership.

Findings from this program will inform refinements to the full policy and recommendations for group-wide implementation in future cycles.

2. Scholarship Categories

3. Eligibility

The scholarship is open to both current LISG students and new external applicants who meet the following requirements:

  • Nationality: Non-Emirati students (any nationality).
  • Grade: Entering or currently in Grades 10–12 at LISG.
  • Academic Standards:
    • 92% in the previous or current academic year, or MAP results ≥ 75th percentile in Reading and Mathematics.
    • Consistent progress in English and Mathematics over the past two reporting cycles.
  • Attendance: Verified attendance record of at least 96%.
  • Behavior and Attitude:
    • No record of disciplinary incidents within the last academic year.
    • Teacher or counsellor reference confirming consistent respect, cooperation, and responsibility.
  • Contribution and Potential:
    • Evidence of participation in extracurricular or community activities.
    • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and ambition in academic or personal pursuits.

All applicants must provide a personal statement (100–500 words): "How I demonstrate commitment, creativity, and leadership in my learning and my community."

4. Category Criteria and Retention

A. Liwa Excellence Scholarship

Eligibility: Academic excellence and sustained effort; open to both current and new students in Grades 10–12.
Selection Criteria: At least 94% average or equivalent; MAP ≥ 75th percentile in core subjects; strong attendance and positive references; evidence of diligence, curiosity, and integrity.
Retention: Maintain at least a 92% average and attendance ≥ 96%; remain free of disciplinary incidents; demonstrate continued academic growth and engagement.

B. Liwa AI & Innovation Scholarship

Eligibility: Grades 10–12 students demonstrating innovation, creativity, or interest in AI, technology, or digital design.
Selection Criteria: Submission of a short innovation project or concept proposal (individual or team); evidence of creative problem-solving and ethical digital use; teacher reference in STEM-related subject; interview with the LISG Scholarship Committee.
Retention: Maintain at least a 92% average; active participation in AI or innovation projects such as the AI Fair or internal exhibition; continued positive conduct and attendance ≥ 96%.

C. Liwa Future Leaders Scholarship

Eligibility: Grades 10–12 students demonstrating leadership potential, communication skills, and a commitment to service.
Selection Criteria: Application essay: "How I will make a difference at Liwa International School for Girls"; evidence of leadership roles in clubs, events, or community initiatives; reference highlighting empathy, initiative, and teamwork; interview with LISG Scholarship Committee.
Retention: Continued leadership or community engagement each term; maintain at least a 92% average and attendance ≥ 96%; active participation in school events or mentoring programs.

D. Liwa Sports Excellence Scholarship

Eligibility: Grades 10–12 students demonstrating strong sports performance, discipline and commitment.
Selection Criteria: Evidence of achievement in at least one sport (school team, club level, district/emirate/national participation, or equivalent); strong record of sportsmanship, discipline, and attendance; recommendation from the PE Department/Coach (and/or external coach, if applicable); commitment to represent the school in tournaments/events and participate in regular training; participation in trials/sporting assessment and an interview with the Scholarship Committee.
Retention: Continued engagement in sport at an appropriate level; participate in school teams and act as a role model for others; attendance ≥ 96%; active participation in school events.

5. Application and Selection Process

Stage Description
Launch January 2026 – Announcement through LISG website, social media, and recruitment fairs.
Submission January–February 2026 – Applicants complete the LISG Scholarship Application Form, submit transcripts, attendance record, reference letter, and personal statement.
Shortlisting February–March 2026 – LISG Scholarship Committee reviews applications and selects finalists.
Interviews March–April 2026 – Panel interviews.
Offers April 2026 – Successful candidates notified and confirmed for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Review Termly by LISG Principal and relevant school staff members. Term 3, 2026–2027 – Performance and renewal review by LISG Committee.

6. Governance

Committee Composition Responsibilities
LISG Scholarship Committee Principal (Chair), VP (Teaching & Learning), School Counsellor, and one LESL representative Responsible for shortlisting, interviews, and school-level verification.
Group Scholarship Committee Director of Schools (Chair), LISG Principal, Director of Marketing and Enrolment, and one Principal from another Liwa Education school Ensures quality, consistency, and alignment with group policy.
Evaluation and Reporting Review completed by the Director of Schools, Director of Marketing and Enrolment and the LISG Principal, summarizing outcomes, diversity and achievement impact, and recommendations for future scaling.

7. Evaluation

During and at the end of the 2026–2027 academic year, the following data will be reviewed:

  • Number and diversity of applications received.
  • Academic and behavioral performance of award recipients.
  • Enrolment and retention impact in Grades 10–12.
  • Student and parent satisfaction feedback.

Findings will determine whether the program is continued, adapted, or expanded to other Liwa Education schools in subsequent cycles.
